In April, we were pleased to host the National Slag Association’s S.O.A.P. committee spring meeting in Birmingham. After a morning session on safety and operational issues for their member companies, the committee reps joined us for a quick tour of Tricon’s Birmingham facility. It was a great opportunity to meet the team and learn more about how we can service this important industry.
The NSA was formed in 1918 to promote the use of slag produced in Blast and Steel Furnace operations. With today’s focus on efficient use of resources and minimizing environmental impacts, the work of the NSA is even more critical than it was over 100 years ago.
Slag from iron production has been used in roadway construction since the Roman roads were constructed over 2000 years ago.
